Membership Growth Team
What it’s for
This team looks after the people who want to be part of the local group – welcomes, follow-ups, and a list that actually stays useful.
Some of those people are party members. Some are not, and never will be. Both belong here.
Numbers that should make you curious
- Wentworth is one of the smallest electorates in the country by area – a small organised group can actually cover the ground.
- Most people never get closer to politics than a ballot paper. A list of neighbours who said they would help is rarer than it should be.
- A membership roll is power. This group keeps its own list, built from people who opted in here.
What the work actually is
- Welcome each new person with a call or a note, so joining feels like joining something
- Keep the supporters list tidy so nobody is forgotten
- Follow up people who registered interest or did the survey
- Show up at community events and with aligned local organisations
How much time, honestly?
A few welcomes, a records check, an occasional event — it fits around a normal week.
Would I be any good at it?
If you can keep a spreadsheet tidy or hold a friendly conversation, you already have the skills — everything else is a handover and a bit of habit.
- You are organised and like a list that reconciles
- Or you are the opposite: you like people, and turning a chat into a signup sounds like fun
- You can commit to reporting progress at the monthly meeting
Not sure? Have a go. Ease in — take a small job, see how it fits, step up or step back as life allows. Registering interest is a conversation, not a contract.
